Ham and Bacon Show Yields $51,789.25

The 49th annual Wetzel County 4-H/FFA Ham and Bacon Show, held Friday, raised $51,789.25, which was short of last year's total of $71,267.88. Auction services were provided by Ron Morrison. Notably, this was the 20th year Ron Morrison has provided auction services at the Wetzel County 4-H/FFA Ham and Bacon Show.

The well-attended event at the Wetzel County 4-H Grounds Mollohan Center featured ham, bacon, and eggs raised by Wetzel County students.

The grand champion ham was exhibited by Cheyenne Coen. Weighing 23.5 pounds, it sold to Wetzel County Assessor Scott Lemley for $150 per pound, or $3,525.

The grand champion bacon, weighing 7.25 pounds, was exhibited by Bailie Fayad. It sold for $250 per pound, or $1,812.50, to McDonalds.

The grand champion eggs were exhibited by Curtis Tedrow. They sold for $1,200, to Triple E. Services.

The the reserve champion ham was exhibited by Samantha Morris. The 22.5 pound ham sold for $70 per pound, for a total of $1,575. The ham was bought by Town & Country Days.

The reserve champion bacon was exhibited by Devann Fox. The bacon weighed 7.25 pounds and was sold for $155 per pound, for a total of $1,123.75. The bacon was sold to Union Bank, New Martinsville.

The reserve champion eggs were sold to H&T Farm for $1,000. They were exhibited by Melanie Thomas.

The scholarship ham was donated by Pine Grove FFA. It sold for $1,100 to DAC Energy LLC.

The scholarship bacon, donated by Hundred FFA, was sold for $1,200 to Triple E. Services.

The FFA Jacket was sold to Country Roads Ford for $1,025.
