Magnolia Girls Repeat In OVAC Class-3A Track

The Magnolia Blue Eagles' Bailey Estep and Knydra Pilant won three and two individual titles, respectively, in the Girls OVAC Class-3A Championships on Saturday, May 6 in St Clairsville, helping the Lady Eagles to win their seventh overall conference title, and second consecutive OVAC title, with 139 points.

Estep won the 100 meter dash (13.30), as well as the high (5-4) and long jump (16-02.75), while Pilant grabbed the gold in the shot put (36-09.50) and the discus (101-03). Likewise Massey won the 100 meter hurdles (17.92), and the 300 meter hurdles (48.75).

Other notable OVAC Champions were Jordan Delaney in the 800 meter run, as well as the foursome of Massey, Liza Clegg, Sierra Walker and Alayna Cline in the 4x100 meter Shuttle Relay with a solid time of (1:14.16).

Cline also finished second in the high jump (4-10), as well as Delaney in the 3,200 meter run in (12:24.63), and 1,600 meter run (5:34.01). Anna Zills finished third in the discus with a toss of (99-02) and fifth in the shot at (31-02.50). Kennedy Parsons also finished third in the 400 meter dash in (1:06.33). Bre Barbera placed fifth in the 3,200 meter run with a time of (13:22.52) in the individual races.

Besides winning the 4x100 meter shuttles, the 4x400 meter team of Cline, Delaney, Massey and Kelsi Chapman finished third, while the 4x200 (1:56.54) of Cline, Chapman, Parsons and Estep; and 4x 800 meter relay team of Barbera, Olivia **

Baker And Henderson Leads Class-A/AA Girls

The Lumberjills' Rachel Baker won the girls OVAC Class-A/AA high jump with a leap of (4-10), while the Lady Hornets' Katherine Henderson won the gold in the long jump (15-02.25).

Corty Sapp of River finished runner-up in the high jump event at (4-8), while the 'Jills Sophie Palmer (4-6) finished third. Palmer also finished fourth in the long jump at (14-2), while the Lady Pilots' Zoey Miller (13-10) finished fifth.

The Pilots' Sierra Knowlton (78-03) finished fifth in the discus throw, while the Pilots' 4x800 meter relay team of Julianna Taylor, Kate Dotterer, Alex Karpacs-Brown and Shayna Indermuhle placed sixth as well as Indermuhle, Zoey Miller, Jenna Tucker and Livi Beard in the 4x400 meter relay at (4:53.15).

Beard also finished fourth in the 200 meter dash (28.45) as did teammate Carmen Hinerman 300 meter hurdles (52.89). Hinerman (18.56) also finished fifth in the 100 meter hurdles, while Palmer (18.99) finished sixth.

Wheeling Central finished first, while River placed ninth, Valley 10th, Hundred 14th, and the Paden City team didn't score.

Street, Parsons, and Eagles' 100 Relay, Finish On Top

Magnolia's Chase Street (11.33) won the 100 meter dash, Brooks Parsons (5-10) in the high jump, as well as team of Street, Jack Booth, Riley Nice and Hunter Partridge in the 4x100 meter relay (45.81) event to help the Blue Eagle boys finish fourth in a very tough OVAC Class-3A field.

Parsons (53.11) also took the bronze in the 400 meter dash, while Street (24.00) finished fourth in the 200 meter dash. Caleb Nice (42-03) placed fourth in the shot, while teammates Jared Barrows (117-007) placed fourth and Jakob Barrows (105-03) finished sixth in the discus. Jack Booth (18-11) finished fifth in the long jump, while the Eagles' 4x200 meter relay team of Booth, Street, Parsons and Riley Nice (1:35.07) finished third, as well as the team of Nice, Booth, Parsons and Jacob Myers in the 4x400 meter relay event.

The Eagles' foursome of Myers, Spencer Shepherd, Trenton Robinson and Ethan Herrick placed fifth in the 4x800 meter relay.

Brown, Pierce and Stewart Win Gold In Class A/AA Boys

The Pilots' Chase Brown won the 400 meter dash (53.53), while finishing third in the 200 meter dash (24.05), helping the River Pilots finish fifth, Paden City eighth, Hundred, 11th and Valley, 14th in the OVAC Boys Class-A/AA championships.

Jacob Pierce paced the Wildcats with a solid victory in the 300 meter hurdles (41.59), while Hundred's Danny Stewart took home with the gold in the high jump (5-8). Stewart also placed fifth in the long jump (18-08.25) while Valley Lumberjacks' Peyton Bassett (54.42) placed fourth in the 400 meter dash.

The Pilots' Drew Dietz finished fourth in the 110 meter hurdles (17.04) and fifth in the 300 meter hurdles (45.18), as well as teammate Braden Whetsell in the 100 meter dash with a time of (12.11).

The Paden City foursome of Cade Myers, Wesley Smith, Landon Smith and Jacob Pierce (1:04.) won the 4x100 meter shuttle event, with the River Pilots' Alex Rufener, Ethan Goudy, Payton and Cooper VanCamp (1:17.23) finished fifth.

The River guys of Goudy, Brown, Dietz and Whetsell placed runner-up in the 4x100 meter relay (47.29), as well as the team of Brown, Dietz, Whetsell and Payton VanCamp in the 4x200 meter relay in (1:38.13).

Athletes Shine On Day One

In day one of the OVAC Class-AAA qualifying events, Magnolia senior standout Bailey Estep soared over the high jump bar 5-4 for the top mark, while teammate Alayna Cline finished second at 4-10. Meanwhile, freshman Kyndra Pilant's heave of 35-3.34 was the tops in the shot put, while teammate Anna Zills came in fifth at 31-05.

Wheeling Jesuit recruit Jordan Delaney turned in an 11:33.78 to lead the 3,200 field, while teammate Bre Barbara came in fifth with a time of 13:25.47.

Kristen Massey was second in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 17.75, while teammates Kennedy Parsons (1:05.86) and Estep (13.83) each placed fifth in the 400- meter and 100-meter dash, respectively.

The girls 4x800 meter relay team placed fifth with a time of 11:58.20, while the the girls 4x200 meter relay team finished in sixth with a time of 1:59.34.

On the boys' side, Chase Street (11.68) had the overall top time in the 100-meter dash, while teammate Hunter Partridge (12.62) placed eighth. Brooks Parsons (51.83) also finished in the top spot in the 400 meter dash, while teammate Jacob Meyers (54.71) finished eighth.

Meanwhile, Jakob (118-04) and Jared (116-06) Barrows finished fifth and sixth in the discus, respectively, while Jack Booth finished in fourth in the long jump at 19-08.50.

In the 4x200 meter relay event, the Magnolia boys finished third with a time of 1:34.11, while their 4x800 meter relay team finished fifth at 9:04.79.

In the boys' OVAC Class A/AA meet, Paden City senior and West Liberty recruit Jacob Pierce (42.08) had the best overall time in the 300 meter hurdles, while the Pilots Drew Dietz (45.89) and teammate Alex Refener (46.33) finished sixth and seventh, respectively. The Wildcats also claimed the best time (1:05.18) in the shuttles, while River (1:19.03).

The Hundred Hornets, Danny Stewart (5-10) had the top high jump leap, while the Pilots Payton VanCamp (5-02) finished seventh. Also, the Pilots Chase Brown (23.33) and teammate Braden Whetsell (24.35) was fourth and eighth, respectively in the 200 meter dash.

Levi Rux of Valley placed seventh in the shot-put with a heave of 38-03, while the River 4x100 meter relay team finished fifth with a time of 47.22, while the Paden City guys finished 10th at 50.24.

In the girls opening day of qualifying, the Lady Hornets Katherine Henderson (14-08.25) finished runner-up in the long jump, while Sophie Palmer of Valley (14-03) placed fourth, and River's Zoey Miller (14-03) was fifth.

The Lady Pilots' Carmen Hinerman (51.49) was third in the 300-meter hurdles, while teammate Livi Beard (28.00) was fifth in the 200-meter dash. Also, the Pilots' Sierra Knowlton (88-00) was fourth in the discus, while teammate Shayna Indermuhle (6:08.94) was ninth in the 1,600-meter run.

The Lady Pilots' 4x400 (4:43.21) and their 4x100 (56.52) meter relay teams placed sixth and seventh, respectively.

In the second day of qualifying, the Lady Eagles continued to shine, scoring wins in the 300 meter hurdles, long jump and the discus events, while placing runner-up in the 800 meter run, 4x100 and 4x400 meter relay events to increase their lead in the OVAC Class-3A race.

Once again. it was Bailey Estep (17-02) in the long jump, and Kyndra Pilant (107-08) in the discus winning multiple events, while Kristen Massey (49.25) earned her first victory in the 300 meter hurdles.

Earning second place in their respective events were Jordan Delaney (2:30.00) in the 800 meter run, and Anna Zills (104-10) in the discus. The Eagles shuttle team (1:16.17) also placed a close second to Martins Ferry (1:13.74).
