Partake in County Christmas Cheer
December 6, 2017

Too often folks lament that there is nothing to do in our area. That could not be further from the truth, especially this time of year!

This coming weekend is jam-packed with activities for young - and old! Check out our front page, and see for yourself.

The festive fun begins Friday evening when the Short Line area begins its annual Christmas Weekend Celebration. The Christmas pageant is slated for 6 p.m., followed by a fireworks display that is sure to be breathtaking.

The fun continues Saturday with vendors, food, and the Grand Parade. Short Line's Christmas events end Sunday when Santa will be at the Byrd Center for photo-ops.

Across the hill, Hundred's residents will be celebrating the town's annual Old Fashioned Christmas. The main event - the parade - is slated for 5:30 p.m.

We tip our hats to the organizers of this event. This past summer, as we all know, the town suffered tremendous loss due to the July 28-29 floods. Residents struggled with picking up the pieces, wondering and worrying about the future of the town.

Mayor Chip Goff is quoted as saying that the bigger the Christmas parade, "the better."

We concur!

Meanwhile, on Nov. 10, the Festival of Trees will be hosting Holiday Home Tours. This is sure to be a unique affair, perhaps offering some ideas for those who have yet to finish decorating for Christmas!

We would be remiss in saying we have named all activities slated for this upcoming weekend, but those appear to be the big three.

We encourage you to support the individuals who are tirelessly working to spread some holiday cheer. Consider attending one of the above-mentioned events, and supporting some holiday cheer.
